What happens between you and your coach?
First and foremost, your life coach is an equal partner with you on the road to setting and reaching your life goals. That is why it is so important to find the right coaching partner, someone you trust, who does not make you feel inferior in any way, someone whose personality and perspectives work well with you and yours.
What will your life coach NOT DO?
Your life coach will . . .
NOT tell you what to do. You are your own boss, you are in charge of your life and your decisions about your life.
NOT give you advice. You are the true expert about your own life.
NOT do any work for you. This is your career, your life, and your future.
NOT have you discuss past relationships or events. Counseling is about reaching into the past to find out about the present. Coaching is not counseling. It is about the now and the future.
NOT have you defend or justify yourself . You are who you are without needing to defend yourself. Coaching is a “mirror reflection” – a process of discovering what you want and how to get there on your terms.
NOT judge or evaluate you. Coaching is about discovering the truth of you, with no judgment by your coach.
NOT criticize or critique you. Your coach recognizes this is your life and her job is not to impose herself or her beliefs on you or your life.
NOT attempt to teach you. Life coaching is about finding your own truth from deep within you – not about giving you more education or information.
What your life coach WILL do:
Your life coach will do what all great coaches have always done: Your life coach will focus totally on Y-O-U. You will become the very center of their attention. Life coaching is all about you accomplishing your coachable goals on your terms, at your pace, based totally on your agenda.
